previous 6/10 next 8/10  Haxn 1 - 0 Ossiwans (387492446)

36318 fans braved the pouring rain at FC Haxn Arena. Roy Duke was the appointed referee with assistance provided by János Geisz and Juan Zunzunegui. Haxn had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Tentarelli - Drobnits, Hode, Volta - Campara, Akça, Huang, Tagliaro, Caseiro - Malleret, Jung.

A 5-2-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Ossiwans. The following players had been chosen: Bengtsson - Riquelme, Langer, Dimov, Soravia, Van Ooteghem - Torretta, Zuza - Bregartner, Haslinger, Cromer.

Ossiwans immediately set off using their skill at pressing their opponents. The guests almost went up by a goal after 2 minutes when A. Cromer came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. The referee showed Ossiwans's F. Langer the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 16 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Ossiwans found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to weak. G. Volta received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 25 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. At 26 minutes played, E. Campara came in from the right with the intention of giving Haxn the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. Ossiwans's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. C. Jung did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when L. Zuza slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against D. Tentarelli, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Haxn claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 68 percent.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Ossiwans had passable organisation. At this time in the match, Ossiwans were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. 67 minutes into the match, Ossiwans nearly took the lead, as L. Zuza broke through on the right. D. Tentarelli made the save, however. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, V. Tagliaro scored for Haxn putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 80 minutes. 81 minutes into the game, Ossiwans had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. Ossiwans's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. Haxn had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.

The most dominating Haxn player was without a doubt G. Malleret. G. Volta was a disappointment, however. A. Cromer performed admirably for Ossiwans. J. Soravia turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 0.
