(387495428)

19-08-2012 09.30
Dark skies made the crowd of 29204 at
The Den a little nervous, but the rain held off.
André Liebetanz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Donny de Rooij and
Olivier Borg.
Vienna started off with a 4-3-3 lineup.
Starters: Gil de Zúñiga - Belmonte, Bilro, Hutter, Pérez Camacho - Böőr, Turtiainen, Hermua - Chmyr, Amann, Dragšič.
Hollabrunn tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Kolter - Paritario, Guesnon, Peleg - Lysser, Pilz, Suchard, Ofner, Kierepka - Teixeira, Draper.
Vienna displayed their ability to play creatively.
3 minutes into the game,
S. Peleg almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
N. Turtiainen, but the Vienna player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
With 9 minutes played,
L. Hermua could have brought this one home for Vienna as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
Hollabrunn were close to putting the equaliser away after 24 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to
C. Suchard in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line.
Cheers filled the stadium as
M. Chmyr broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Vienna.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0.
Hollabrunn claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
A bit later, Hollabrunn's
C. Suchard easily reduced the lead to 2 - 1 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence.
E. Paritario's penalty kick ended up in the arms of the keeper, preventing the equaliser, 57 minutes into the game.
J. Teixeira sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
E. Paritario after 59 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 2.
Hollabrunn enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
Vienna's top performer was clearly
M. Chmyr.
A. Hutter on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Hollabrunn's best player was
B. Kierepka.
D. Guesnon was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 2.
