(387498105)

29-07-2012 09.30
Dark skies made the crowd of 24845 at
Dynamo Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Enver Ökeer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Zdzisław Szmatuła and
Gilles Guillouët.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Wien derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Dynamo had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
Lineup: Grøn - Folon, Fischer, Ábrányi, Balaban - í Gráumýru, Zanoncini, Allgäuer, Wilfinger, McGarrell - Oiticica.
WSK tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Sobral - Dannert, Gorchev, Ortiz - Bischof, Lichtenegger, Prantl, Haas, Sporn - Valldén, Hiltula.
Dynamo were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
WSK used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
N. Lichtenegger came close to putting the visiting team one up 8 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
J. Grøn managed to tip the ball to a corner.
Dynamo's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 9 minutes gone, but
W. Folon's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper.
The visitors were very close to gaining the lead with a marvellous free kick after 22 minutes, but
J. Grøn made a beautiful one-handed save.
WSK took the lead 23 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
L. Hiltula was the scorer.
T. Valldén was, after 28 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
J. Grøn made the save.
H. Prantl came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
J. Grøn but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1.
WSK had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.
55 minutes into the match,
H. Prantl came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 73 minutes played,
J. Oiticica of Dynamo made the score 1 - 1.
78 minutes into the game,
F. Haas had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide.
79 minutes into the game,
W. Folon had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
E. Vinyukov.
As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
O. Balaban took over the role of being the Dynamo captain.
Coming in from the right, Dynamo had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 81 minutes, but
D. Allgäuer's attempt to finish was easily stopped.
Good work by the Dynamo defensive line after 84 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found
P. McGarrell alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide.
WSK claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.
Dynamo's best player was
P. í Gráumýru.
On the other hand,
D. Allgäuer's play was disheartening.
WSK's top performer was clearly
T. Valldén.
M. Dannert on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 1 - 1.
