Clear skies welcomed the 39943 spectators who had made their way to Pennywise Arena. Tim Larsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Niek van der Spek and Alaón Calera. EC04 decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Niyaz - Üits, Riis, Hartmann - Janković, Marasca, Villaruel, Gil, Thaler - Seniavskis, Lepur.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Benno1709. They fielded: Sim - Markó, Pinto, Montresor - Kruize, Stroobandt, Zimpel, Rubio Envite, Greiner - Malmberg, Nicastro.

EC04 tried to focus their attacks down the middle. G. Pinto really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by B. Greiner after a corner. A. Lepur caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 23 minutes. This gave EC04 the 1 - 0 lead. V. Seniavskis could have increased the lead after 33 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. The visitors' G. Pinto was alert after a cross coming in from the left, levelling the score at 1 - 1 after 34 minutes. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by EC04, with 59 percent of the ball.

After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, L. Riis got himself booked. The manager of EC04 was not happy. Some great play up the middle by EC04 led to a chance for I. Villaruel to score after 65 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. After 79 minutes, Benno1709's A. Rubio Envite fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! EC04 claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.

A. Lepur performed admirably for EC04. D. Janković turned in a dismal performance, however. Benno1709's best player was E. Malmberg. B. Greiner on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 1.
