Dark skies made the crowd of 16286 at
Tajfun Radomierz Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Milan Hanzal was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Michal Sawczak and
Manuel Terragni.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Radomierz.
The following players took the field: Kolobkov - Bladblad, Grelo, Királyvári - Tourrette, Witos, Ciećwierz, Then, Zdrzałek - Robichon, Larpin.
(Barc)elona decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Maestrone - Vera, Vânatoru, Kettula - Vanoni, Skorupa, Freda, Stokłosa, Tschirren - Dounane, Mayens.
Radomierz seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
(Barc)elona were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Players in (Barc)elona heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
G. Vanoni had a good opportunity to give (Barc)elona the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save.
Radomierz fans held their breath as
Y. Robichon scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
I. Witos received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 19 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
Radomierz had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
After 33 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
P. Larpin might have resulted in another goal for Radomierz. However,
R. Maestrone made a spectacular save.
The Radomierz free kick 38 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
P. Larpin, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 0!
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Radomierz, with 67 percent of the ball.
After 60 minutes (Barc)elona's
P. Freda had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony.
J. Cinelli came in to replace him.
Radomierz solidified their lead at the 62 minute mark, as
P. Larpin dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
J. Bladblad should probably have put his team up another goal after 64 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
R. Maestrone kept the visitors in the game.
Radomierz's
M. Tourrette was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
Y. Robichon managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 4 - 0 after 67 minutes.
The cannonball from 35 metres by
P. Larpin of Radomierz was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Radomierz, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
Radomierz claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 68 percent.
Most important Radomierz player was
I. Witos.
J. Bladblad on the other hand, had a terrible day.
M. Tschirren performed admirably for (Barc)elona.
On the other hand,
M. Skorupa's play was disheartening.
