12000 spectators had come to
Peking Ducks Arena this cloudy day.
Rob Edvinsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Aarão Agro and
Jan Hanssen.
Peking had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: Dieterling - Schober, Tremmel, Banovits, Zeidler - Woda, Debreczeni, Waibel, Marek - Winter, Schartner.
OTK decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Zych - Brenner, Rapp, Kerber, Aschaber - Kocsis, Schopf, Schuberth, Stauder - Koller, Udry.
With 6 minutes played
M. Woda almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide.
Peking took the lead after 31 minutes as a result of
M. Woda's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
The referee showed OTK's
F. Schopf the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Halftime score was 1 - 0.
Peking claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.
Coming from the right,
S. Tremmel almost managed to score another goal for Peking, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 60 minute mark, OTK's
D. Schuberth hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
Peking's
L. Debreczeni increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 66 minutes.
OTK's right side looked dangerous after 67 minutes, as
E. Udry broke through.
K. Dieterling continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy.
After 68 minutes, Peking's
C. Schober found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 3 - 0.
OTK's
P. Aschaber left the field after 69 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
J. Fidler.
After 82 minutes OTK's
E. Udry had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony.
M. Berner came in to replace him.
Peking's
S. Schartner saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 85 minutes.
Possession in this half belonged to Peking, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.
The most dominating Peking player was without a doubt
C. Schober.
A. Banovits was a disappointment, however.
M. Berner performed admirably for OTK.
E. Stauder on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 0.
