The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 37124 had shown up at
Fight CLUB for the match.
Markus Marti was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Xavier Hasan and
Gaël Chaussard.
Mareks tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Einöder - Roider, Turyanskiy, Bosscher - Sokoli, Wohlauf, Heinisch, Stecher, Fjellstad - Seifert, Petró.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Tirol.
The following players had been chosen: Eberhard - Pengg, Riegler, Janko, Lässer - Schmalz, Prochaska, Wagner, Schauer - Kohl, Tesch.
Many thought
M. Turyanskiy ought to have been awarded a penalty 5 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
S. Eberhard after a determined run through the middle.
Mareks created a good opportunity to score 16 minutes into the match when
B. Petró's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
A. Heinisch scored for Mareks putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 29 minutes.
K. Maitz was called on to replace Tirol's
D. Lässer after 33 minutes following a nasty collision.
P. Fjellstad sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
A. Heinisch after 36 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 0.
Mareks's
P. Seifert increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 37 minutes.
By now, the players in Mareks felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Mareks increased the lead as
G. Stecher struck to make the score 4 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
4 - 0 was the halftime score.
Mareks claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 86 percent.
Mareks's
P. Seifert saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 59 minutes.
60 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
P. Seifert broke through, making the score 5 - 0 for Mareks.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Mareks to 6 - 0 as
C. Wohlauf finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
After 70 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
C. Wohlauf gave the Mareks supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 7 - 0.
After 79 minutes,
P. Fjellstad put Mareks ahead 8 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Mareks had most of the ball, with 87 percent of possession.
Mareks's best player was
C. Wohlauf.
However,
K. Roider made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Tirol player was without a doubt
D. Wagner.
S. Eberhard on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 8 - 0.
