Dark skies made the crowd of 12000 at
Awesome Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Håkan Lagermar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Semen Yermolenko and
Olof Kullenbom.
Awesome had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Özarı - Ibarreta, Rahnev, Oehmichen - Treysa, Ivens, Casarin, Gravier, Korzhenevskiy - Brandstrup, Bakkli.
Tirol tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Eberhard - Pengg, Riegler, Janko, Lässer - Schmalz, Prochaska, Wagner, Schauer - Kohl, Tesch.
Awesome mostly relied on their long range shooting ability.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
A. Ibarreta scored for Awesome putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 2 minutes.
With 24 minutes played, Awesome put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
J. Bakkli, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Awesome to 3 - 0 as
J. Bakkli finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
Tirol's
A. Riegler showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 27 minutes. Unfortunately,
N. Kohl was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Awesome scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
U. Brandstrup after 37 minutes.
4 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Awesome, with 77 percent of the ball.
Awesome increased the lead as
M. Korzhenevskiy struck to make the score 5 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
P. Gravier increased the lead for Awesome to 6 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
Confident in their lead, Awesome's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
58 minutes in, Awesome's
F. Oehmichen received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Awesome managed to extend their lead to 7 - 0 when
K. Rahnev cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Coming from the right,
G. Ivens almost managed to score another goal for Awesome, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
Awesome enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 80 percent of possession.
Awesome's top performer was clearly
U. Brandstrup.
E. Treysa was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Tirol player was without a doubt
D. Lässer.
S. Eberhard on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 7 - 0.
