Pöschl was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 36 minutes. After 37 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by D. Pöschl might have resulted in another goal for Iuvavia. However, N. Gürkut made a spectacular save. SFSC were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 39 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to M. Stucchi, who smashed it home to make the score 2 - 1. Iuvavia managed to extend their lead to 3 - 1 when R. Stoiber cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Halftime score was 3 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Iuvavia, with 71 percent of the ball.

After 47 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and T. Schöllhuber gave the Iuvavia supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1. Iuvavia put themselves up 5 - 1 when B.
