previous 1/10 next 3/10  Inzersdorf 0 - 9 Punxtars (387574561)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 19115 to Wolfwood Arena. Frede Rostgaard was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Dorian Szlagor and Steve Hollenbach. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this Wien derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Inzersdorf. The following players took the field: Gschaider - Ledermüller, Wild, Zech, Kratzer - Rabensteiner, Gstrein, Mach, Weber - Aigner, Sturm.

Punxtars tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Starters: Arraya - Scherz, Stegemann, Brion, Bolechowski - Philipp, Rusinovich, Cosca, Sikkes - Dinga, Carriero.

Punxtars showed off their creative tactics. M. Dinga came close to putting the visiting team one up 11 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but K. Gschaider managed to tip the ball to a corner. 0 - 1 was the score with 23 minutes played, after R. Cosca cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Punxtars. Inzersdorf's M. Wild was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 26 minutes. After 29 minutes, Punxtars's R. Philipp burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. There was concern in the stands when, at the 37 minute mark, Inzersdorf's R. Aigner hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Punxtars increased their lead after 39 minutes when R. Cosca broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave R. Aigner from Inzersdorf a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 40 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! L. Zech looked like he could fly, as he rose high to head the ball. Unfortunately for Inzersdorf, the ball went just barely wide. A. Brion received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 43 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Punxtars fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. It was 0 - 4 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Punxtars, with 79 percent of the ball.

With 53 minutes played, Punxtars's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to M. Scherz he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 0 - 5. Confident in their lead, Punxtars's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. 57 minutes into the game, Punxtars were awarded a penalty and M. Dinga was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 6 rolling the ball in by the right post. R. Cosca wanted to play on, but the Punxtars coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 60 minutes into the game by D. Steinmayer. With 62 minutes played, Punxtars put themselves up 0 - 7 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was P. Carriero. The home crowd was not impressed when O. Sikkes came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 66 minutes. Punxtars were now up 0 - 8. The Punxtars players could smell victory in the air. M. Scherz wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for G. Dampfhofer after 68 minutes. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Punxtars coach let R. Obstgärten replace M. Dinga after 76 minutes. O. Sikkes of Punxtars took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 78 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 9. 83 minutes in, Punxtars's A. Rusinovich received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. R. Aigner of Inzersdorf had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. G. Wolf came in to finish the match. Punxtars enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 85 percent of possession.

Inzersdorf's top performer was clearly H. Ledermüller. L. Zech turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Punxtars player was D. Steinmayer. However, G. Dampfhofer made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 9.
