12000 punters turned up at
SK seWen Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Adrian Bonţea was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Toprak Mahfer and
Cédric Barret.
seWen had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Lineup: Lackinger - Seifert, Schöberl, Pistotnik, Salamander - Ondruschka, Wind, Reichel, Brandl - Fritsche, Hubl.
SVL tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
They fielded: Gstöttner - Gava, Bark, Pater - Majcherek, Brun, Andersson, Jakimovski - Bendazzoli, Nużyński, Kapusta.
After 2 minutes, SVL's
P. Kapusta made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1.
seWen's
I. Wind had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 19 minutes having been played.
T. Stauber was the replacement.
S. Brandl was handed the seWen captain's armband.
Some fine movement on the left led to a SVL goal after 21 minutes, making it 0 - 2.
A. Nużyński was noted down as the scorer.
P. Jakimovski of SVL took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 23 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of SVL lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
With 31 minutes played,
L. Andersson nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
L. Seifert got himself booked. The manager of seWen was not happy.
With 35 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
A. Salamander needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed.
After 36 minutes, SVL's
J. Bark burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 4.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4.
Possession in this half belonged to SVL, who controlled the ball 71 percent of the time.
After 74 minutes, SVL raised their score by one when
P. Jakimovski's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
G. Bendazzoli. 0 - 5.
A. Nużyński received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 75 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 6. The SVL fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
After 79 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
A. Nużyński who increased SVL's lead to 0 - 7.
By then
A. Nużyński had scored three goals - a hat trick!
81 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 8 as
G. Bendazzoli finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
A drive down the left side allowed
G. Bendazzoli to get in close and score another goal for SVL after 83 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 9.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
G. Bendazzoli.
SVL had most of the ball, with 78 percent of possession.
M. Ondruschka performed admirably for seWen.
L. Pistotnik turned in a dismal performance, however.
SVL's top performer was clearly
G. Bendazzoli.
On the other hand,
K. Gstöttner's play was disheartening.
The match ends 0 - 9.
