The 12000 fans in attendance at PzAB 9 Arena were roasting in the hot sun. Senad Avguštin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Reinhold Fellner and Jesús Alberto Duque. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for PzAB. Starters: Petrič - Frűhauf, Tockner, Hofer, Stanojevic - Seiwald, Kern, Jandl, Voggenhuber - Baier, Moser.

Blau-weiss started off with a 4-3-3 lineup. The following players took the field: Kahr - Eberhard, Swoboda, Toresson, Scholz - Schaffer, Luger, Strauss - Tillander, Portugal, Rindlisbacher.

Right from the start it was obvious that Blau-weiss were expecting an easy victory. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Blau-weiss's H. Schaffer somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for A. Portugal, who struck for 0 - 1. A drive down the left side allowed H. Schaffer to get in close and score another goal for Blau-weiss after 8 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 2. Blau-weiss increased their lead after 11 minutes when W. Strauss broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. The corner kick from W. Strauss was powerfully met by the head of D. Swoboda to make the score 0 - 4. The home keeper was stunned 24 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by W. Strauss and dived in the wrong direction. The visitors increased the lead to 0 - 5. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Blau-weiss lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. A. Portugal of Blau-weiss took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 26 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 6. A counterattack by Blau-weiss after 29 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but A. Portugal, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. 0 - 6 was the score after the first half. Blau-weiss enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 68 percent of possession.

The sunny day didn't make things easy for O. Luger who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch. The home crowd cheered when, after 53 minutes, W. Strauss's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. 56 minutes into the game, Blau-weiss worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs A. Portugal found it hard to get back into position. After 70 minutes, PzAB's K. Baier fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! After 74 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave A. Tillander a chance to increase the lead for Blau-weiss, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 7. P. Voggenhuber enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again. With 80 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed O. Luger of Blau-weiss to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 8. Possession in this half belonged to Blau-weiss, who controlled the ball 72 percent of the time.

PzAB's top performer was clearly K. Baier. However, Z. Stanojevic made a disastrous appearance. P. Rindlisbacher performed admirably for Blau-weiss. On the other hand, O. Luger's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 8.
