previous 10/10 next 2/10  Coca 3 - 2 Szczecin (388006891)

Dark skies made the crowd of 12000 at Coca Cola Team Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Yoann Guelton was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Matej Miklík and Pablo Olivares. Coca tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Matyjak - Rysiewicz, Leszczyna, Pierog, Toczko - Fiebig, Sobejko, Hlebowicz, Uliasz - Przystański, Poźniak.

Szczecin had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Galicki - Bodziak, Jarguz, Piękoś, Kuliga - Lasko, Rodzik, Kaliski, Bogaczewicz - Bączkiewicz, Golokolosov.

Making his way up the middle 7 minutes into the match, J. Poźniak almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert J. Galicki blocked it to keep the score level. With 16 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as W. Sobejko flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, V. Golokolosov got himself booked. The manager of Szczecin was not happy. After 33 minutes, J. Pierog put Coca ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. The players of Coca now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 36 minutes in, Szczecin's K. Jarguz received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 38 minutes, M. Bodziak chose the right corner while taking his penalty, humiliating the home keeper, who dived in the wrong direction. The goal reduced the home lead to 2 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Coca enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.

J. Toczko behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 79 minutes as he gave the ball away to M. Lasko. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. M. Bodziak levelled the score for Szczecin, making it 2 - 2 on a free kick that went in by way of the right post. With 83 minutes played, J. Bączkiewicz of Szczecin fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Many thought J. Rysiewicz ought to have been awarded a penalty 84 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around J. Galicki after a determined run through the middle. Coca broke through on the left 85 minutes into the game, with M. Przystański firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 3 - 2 lead. Possession in this half belonged to Coca, who controlled the ball 64 percent of the time.

Coca's best player was A. Hlebowicz. W. Matyjak turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Szczecin player was Ł. Rodzik. However, M. Piękoś made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 2.
