previous 2/10 next 4/10  Szczecin 3 - 1 Permanentni (388006907)

The 10521 fans in attendance at Szczecin United F.C Arena were roasting in the hot sun. Eric Morisse was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Petter Högsten and Pier Verbruggen. Szczecin started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Starters: Galicki - Bodziak, Jarguz, Piękoś, Kuliga - Lasko, Rodzik, Kaliski, Bogaczewicz - Bączkiewicz, Golokolosov.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Permanentni. They fielded: Szczygieł - Góra, Bolda, Brejnakowski, Bierut - Sibiga, Berkowski, Pilarski, Głowacki - Staszak, Pogłodziński.

Some mind-boggling play by B. Berkowski almost resulted in a goal for Szczecin, but V. Golokolosov's shot rebounded off the post. After 19 minutes, Permanentni put themselves up 0 - 1, as S. Pogłodziński finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. 20 minutes into the match, Szczecin's Ł. Rodzik maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 1 - 1. Down the middle came B. Berkowski, making a fantastic play that nearly had Permanentni take the lead after 22 minutes, but J. Galicki preserved the tie. Szczecin had a chance to take the lead after M. Bodziak's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 34 minutes. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Szczecin claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

Szczecin took the lead 58 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as W. Bogaczewicz elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Szczecin scored another to make it 3 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for M. Kuliga after 69 minutes. Confident in their lead, Szczecin's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Szczecin, with 51 percent of the ball.

Most important Szczecin player was Ł. Rodzik. M. Piękoś was a disappointment, however. Permanentni's top performer was clearly P. Staszak. S. Pogłodziński on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 1.
