Light_Cats 6 - 0 Zenit
(388015491)

15-07-2012 09.45
The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 51184 had shown up at
MILLENIUM SPACE for the match.
Niels Lundby was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Erik Haav and
Lasse ''Eppas'' Wästerlius.
Light_Cats decided to use a 3-4-3 set up.
Lineup: Šuletić - Heilbronn, Mínguez, Villa Calzadilla - Paul, Finnilä, Dijksman, Narbona - Sarriá, Potapov, Saat.
Zenit had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation.
They fielded: Matić - Stokwisz, Villaro, Gauntlett, Illés, Şerban - Pandori, Blicher, Pertinez, Heath - Andersen.
Light_Cats were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Zenit.
Light_Cats's
S. Finnilä tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
Making his way up the middle 10 minutes into the match,
S. Finnilä almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
A. Matić blocked it to keep the score level.
After a fine move down the middle
M. Potapov nearly gave the home side a goal after 27 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide.
After 28 minutes, Light_Cats raised their score by one when
R. Narbona's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
V. Sarriá. 1 - 0.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Light_Cats scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
R. Narbona after 33 minutes.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
Light_Cats enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Light_Cats to 3 - 0 as
S. Saat finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
52 minutes in, Zenit's
P. Villaro received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Light_Cats tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
F. Paul slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 4 - 0, 53 minutes into the game.
The players of Light_Cats now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Zenit's
P. Villaro left the field after 63 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
M. Jurčo.
After 74 minutes, Light_Cats's
R. Narbona found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 5 - 0.
M. Jurčo showed his inexperience when he failed to anticipate the bounce of a high ball, allowing Light_Cats's
M. Potapov to take advantage and place a shot into the bottom corner of the goal. 6 - 0.
Light_Cats had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
With the clock showing 85 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Zenit resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
A. Blicher in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high.
Possession in this half belonged to Light_Cats, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
Light_Cats's best player was
M. Potapov.
However,
S. Šuletić made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Zenit player was without a doubt
A. Blicher.
A. Matić turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 6 - 0.
