Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 77362 to El Nido. Ad van Harsselaar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Cedric Genhart and Kenneth Madsen. Verdes created a good opportunity to score 13 minutes into the match when L. Kanner struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right. 40 minutes into the match, Draggen nearly took the lead, as S. Kanner broke through on the right. P. Gustavsson made the save, however. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

The visiting V. Vladimirovski was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 48 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 1 - 2 was the score. T. Pinxten was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for Verdes with a strike from the left, but F. Grassia managed to ward the shot off for a corner. Sensing defeat in the air, the Verdes manager directed H. Palmmar and M. Wistål to change positions with each other. This was 60 minutes into the match. Verdes needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 60 minutes M. Wistål made way for I. Bangueses. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 75 minutes gave Verdes a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and I. Bangueses stepped up to the challenge. 2 - 2 Verdes fans held their breath as L. Weisz scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 3 - 2! Draggen's R. Viziteu got himself booked for a foul. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Verdes's M. Strobl increasing the lead to 4 - 2. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Verdes coach let S. Wagret replace M. Strobl after 85 minutes. In the lead, Verdes adjusted their style of play with 85 minutes gone. Draggen had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

Most important Verdes player was J. Ångström. On the other hand, I. Bangueses's play was disheartening. Draggen's best player was S. Kanner. P. Raya on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 2.
