previous 3/10 next 5/10  Evertonia 6 - 2 Tokyo (388103563)

42751 spectators arrived at The Evertonia Cauldron, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Mickaël Marguin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Erik Åkesson and Zebulón Zercalde. Evertonia tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Vinbom - Tolić, Mathieux, Andererberg - Escalera, Edvinsson, Ericsson, Asta, Hall - Stensson, Öhrquist.

Tokyo decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Hunt - Ribbens, Praxedes, Buonfini - Stanković, Barategui, Bruhns, Dupraz, Reshetilo - Lotje, 翊政 (Yizheng).

Tokyo's counterattacks created a good chance for T. Ribbens on the right after 4 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. They were singing the praises of D. Edvinsson 9 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Evertonia. A. Andererberg of Evertonia seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 2 - 0 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by C. Mathieux. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave S. Reshetilo from Tokyo a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 19 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 21 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as P. Ericsson broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Evertonia. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Evertonia, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

In a rapid move 61 minutes into the match, S. Reshetilo of Tokyo lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked S. Lotje who easily hit it home to make it 3 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! The home team's fans were upset when, after 62 minutes, the visiting R. Stanković broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 3 - 2 was the score. Evertonia solidified their lead at the 65 minute mark, as P. Ericsson dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 2. After 66 minutes, Tokyo used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. The Tokyo coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Tokyo's S. Reshetilo was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes. A. Morariu was given a chance to change things around. 凌. 翊政 (Yizheng)'s experience almost gave Tokyo a goal after 78 minutes but the keeper made a great save. After 79 minutes, H. Stensson put Evertonia ahead 5 - 2 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. 83 minutes into the match Tokyo's D. Buonfini viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. Evertonia put themselves up 6 - 2 when P. Ericsson broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. By then P. Ericsson had scored three goals - a hat trick! At this point, it was obvious that the players of Evertonia lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Evertonia had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

Evertonia's top performer was clearly H. Stensson. C. Mathieux turned in a dismal performance, however. J. Barategui performed admirably for Tokyo. M. Praxedes was a disappointment, however. The match ends 6 - 2.
