Clouds darkened the skies at
Eskelinen IF Arena as 45490 spectators turned up for the match.
Joonas Saari was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Endre Széll and
Ghindã-Nicolae Antonescu.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Eskelinen.
The following players took the field: Zubiaga - Polsterer, Edskog, Iordache - Trybuła, Mor, Falkstål, Sturbusch, Haraldsson - Ionescu, Balerdi.
ViHarBoll tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Lineup: Vereshyaka - Klophenstein, Adler, Anderco - Zbârcea, Le Normand, Sommer-Prager, Berrini, 友錦 (Youjin) - Fassari, van Stiphout.
It was an obvious ambition of ViHarBoll to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
R. Zbârcea from ViHarBoll a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 12 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
The visiting
A. Fassari was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 31 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score.
The referee showed Eskelinen's
M. Sturbusch the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
ViHarBoll's
A. Anderco went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention.
42 minutes into the game,
M. Trybuła had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
N. Stensson.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Eskelinen, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
53 minutes into the game,
A. Edskog came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar.
Eskelinen tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play.
We may never know what
M. Sturbusch was thinking when he tried to pass the ball through a crowd of opponents. Luckily for him, ViHarBoll's
M. van Stiphout somehow missed the wide open net.
Eskelinen claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
Most important Eskelinen player was
M. Sturbusch.
On the other hand,
N. Stensson's play was disheartening.
ViHarBoll's best player was
A. Fassari.
J. Berrini was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 1.
