41472 punters turned up at
Martinis änglar Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Iso Aegler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ted Kieser and
Jarno Keihäskoski.
Martinis had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Buldanlıoğlu - Sippola, Purper, Łuka - Krähemann, Sørensen, Öhren, Romberg, Irstrand - Taraschi, Negoiţă.
Gåsmossens tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Gaži - Atsalakis, Lambert, Maljević - Siebelink, Lībietis, Juul, Marat, Oliveira - Toman, Cortellazzi.
Martinis took a creative approach on the field.
The Martinis free kick 7 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
T. Romberg, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 0!
Gåsmossens had a chance to level the score as
A. Atsalakis suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar.
Martinis mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 13 minutes, but
S. Negoiţă was unable to convert from short range.
Against a lesser team, Martinis could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 33 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save.
After 38 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 1 - 1 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by
A. Cortellazzi.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Gåsmossens, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.
After 47 minutes,
S. Negoiţă came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Martinis the lead.
The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 48 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when
S. Toman tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper.
Gåsmossens levelled the score after 57 minutes to make it 2 - 2, as
S. Toman struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked.
A mistake by the home side's central defence after 87 minutes allowed
A. Cortellazzi to score for Gåsmossens. The scoreboard now read 2 - 3.
Martinis's
L. Öhren left the field after 88 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
S. Cardama.
Martinis's
M. Taraschi proved that he's been around on a football pitch before, when he took advantage of a few moments of confusion in the opposition's defensive line and elegantly scored for 3 - 3.
Gåsmossens claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
Martinis's top performer was clearly
S. Negoiţă.
On the other hand,
W. Irstrand's play was disheartening.
S. Toman performed admirably for Gåsmossens.
J. Siebelink was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 3.
