39386 punters turned up at
Viaköps BK Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Lee Randall was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Yannick Herther and
Jean-Claude Levine.
Viaköps had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Kuryshev - Vrba, Bologni, Genevois - Gama, Forsander, Renaut, Mancino, Eneén - van Erp, Salmenoksa.
Peking tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Lennartsson - Ståhlbeck, Grekousis, Rahmstrand, Davidsson, Lundher - Högkvist, Billand, Göransson, Inferrera - Erell.
It was an obvious ambition of Peking to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
With 11 minutes gone, Viaköps had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However,
J. van Erp did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out.
With 13 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as
J. van Erp flipped the ball in after a cross from the right.
Peking's
F. Billand refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 14 minutes.
Cheers filled the stadium as
P. Genevois broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Viaköps.
It was 2 - 0 at the break.
Viaköps had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.
Viaköps solidified their lead at the 54 minute mark, as
G. Mancino dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
The corner kick from
L. Rahmstrand was powerfully met by the head of
F. Inferrera to make the score 3 - 1.
It might be a while before the fans see Peking's
C. Lennartsson again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 76 minute mark. He was replaced by
M. Hjertmo.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 79 minutes, Viaköps tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
F. Inferrera got himself booked. The manager of Peking was not happy.
With the clock showing 84 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Peking resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
F. Billand in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high.
Viaköps enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.
Viaköps's best player was
V. Salmenoksa.
U. Eneén was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Peking player was without a doubt
L. Rahmstrand.
On the other hand,
M. Hjertmo's play was disheartening.
The match ends 3 - 1.
