Banque 1 - 2 Motley (388228957)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 12000 to Le Banque HQ. Thorsten Zimmerl was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Greg Tran and Simen Kvalheim. Banque decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. Lineup: Larrea - Czerkawski, Wahlbrant, Hörmar, Chmielowiec - Bauzewski, Pompeo, Villaseca, Schipp, Güntensperger - Uršnik.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Motley. The following players took the field: Derissen - Dukai, Wekema, Soenen - Hammarell, Sörensson, Hyblad, Serrano, Tanhuanpää - Tizzano, Bastien.

The strategy for Banque was to use their ability to press. Today, Motley's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. E. Uršnik caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 4 minutes. This gave Banque the 1 - 0 lead. Motley had a chance to level the score as T. Hammarell suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar. Players in Motley heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. B. Krstanoski was called on to replace Motley's I. Serrano after 36 minutes following a nasty collision. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Possession was split evenly between the teams.

With 53 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, S. Soenen needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. Banque's R. Czerkawski refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 54 minutes. An equalising goal seemed certain after 76 minutes when S. Soenen attacked down the left wing, but O. Larrea just managed to make a save to keep the ball out of the net. After 81 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 1 - 1 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by J. Tanhuanpää. Motley took the lead after T. Sörensson curved a free kick into the net. 1 - 2 The pressing tactics used by Banque were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. Motley had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

Most important Banque player was J. Villaseca. P. Chmielowiec on the other hand, had a terrible day. Motley's best player was M. Hyblad. T. Hammarell turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
