previous 9/10 next 1/10  FC.INTER 0 - 6 Verona (388486824)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 262 to INTER STADIUM. Saverio Monaco Vito was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gaétan Azevedo and Christian Marx. FC.INTER tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players took the field: da Silva - Mastromatteo, van der Klaauw, Rejavic, Booi - Waldstein, Suharsono, Siclari, Santisi - Bedin, Romanello.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Verona. Lineup: Szumowski - Mazeraud, Manduchi, Gawenda, Serafin - Turra, Podda, Di Fraia, Admella, Keup - Bálint.

A badly positioned defensive formation on a free kick after 12 minutes led to Verona's R. Keup giving the visitors the lead 0 - 1. 28 minutes in, FC.INTER appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only weak. Some fine movement on the left led to a Verona goal after 32 minutes, making it 0 - 2. M. Gawenda was noted down as the scorer. After 33 minutes, Verona were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. M. Bálint did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. After 38 minutes, Verona's M. Gawenda burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. Halftime score was 0 - 3. Verona had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of FC.INTER was able to get his message across, and raised FC.INTER's organisation to solid. After 64 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as FC.INTER found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. 80 minutes into the game, FC.INTER seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to poor. Verona increased their lead after 82 minutes when M. Bálint broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay. Confident in their lead, Verona's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After 87 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave R. Keup a chance to increase the lead for Verona, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 5. FC.INTER had to make a substitution after 88 minutes. Y. Suharsono limped off the field and was replaced by A. Passaretti. The visitors' A. Admella took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 89 minutes into the match. 0 - 6 for Verona. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Verona, with 63 percent of the ball.

Most important FC.INTER player was N. Bedin. E. Booi turned in a dismal performance, however. Verona's best player was R. Podda. On the other hand, K. Szumowski's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 6.
