previous 7/10 next 9/10  Hozatspor 0 - 1 Meersel (388528331)

The 24888 spectators at HozatArena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Pier Giorgio Piccoli was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alfonso Dosma and Sergio Derieux. Hozatspor tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. They fielded: Crispolti - Dippoldis, van Gemert, Berescu, Javorčík - Gorzała, Cavalli, Gallones, Bergler - Tămas, Lalić.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Meersel. Starters: Brudek - Morel, Zürson, Watthé, Warmerl - Kargl, Washbrook, Ette, Brunnquell, Roeting - Uberuaga.

Hozatspor's R. van Gemert was shown a yellow card after 17 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Making his way up the middle 22 minutes into the match, R. Javorčík almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert I. Brudek blocked it to keep the score level. The referee showed Meersel's H. Roeting the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Meersel's F. Washbrook left the field after 29 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was G. Beumier. E. Uberuaga was the new captain of Meersel - handed the armband by the departing player. Hozatspor's S. Cavalli tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. 41 minutes into the game, C. Brunnquell had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. After a fine move down the middle P. Lalić nearly gave the home side a goal after 43 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Hozatspor, with 56 percent of the ball.

P. Tămas of Hozatspor was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After 62 minutes, Meersel put themselves up 0 - 1, as C. Brunnquell finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. T. Zürson's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence. Hozatspor's P. Lalić made an attempt at equalising 67 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. Hozatspor had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

Most important Hozatspor player was P. Lalić. However, S. Crispolti made a disastrous appearance. Meersel's top performer was clearly F. Watthé. G. Beumier on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 1.
