previous 4/10 next 6/10  Jumpers GL 4 - 0 FCDS (388535948)

26396 spectators arrived at Outside Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Reto Kempf was the appointed referee with assistance provided by William Streitenbürger and Armin Charmillot. Jumpers GL tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Miguel - Cames, Davids, Cardo, Ener - Van Vlierden, Saraiva, Pesonen, Gottland - Verneert, Angerer.

FCDS had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Lineup: Cavalière - Vallès, Altenburg, Mambourg - Korner, Camilli, Cnops, Purila - Illés, Perevozchikov, Miller.

After 25 minutes of play, L. Verneert gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. It might be a while before the fans see Jumpers GL's T. Pesonen again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 30 minute mark. He was replaced by K. Vercauteren. After 37 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and M. Angerer gave the Jumpers GL supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. L. Verneert could have increased the lead after 37 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Jumpers GL enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

Things were going to get worse for the visitors. M. Angerer squirmed through their central defence after 48 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Jumpers GL lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. FCDS's C. Camilli refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 59 minutes. K. Vercauteren should probably have put his team up another goal after 67 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by F. Cavalière kept the visitors in the game. Jumpers GL's F. Ener increased the lead to 4 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 70 minutes. L. Verneert left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 75 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. B. Baetslé was the replacement. Jumpers GL claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.

Jumpers GL's top performer was clearly F. Cames. B. Baetslé turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating FCDS player was without a doubt V. Perevozchikov. On the other hand, D. Mambourg's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 0.
