Kevinixs 4 - 3 Zero (388538213)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 25501 at Stade St-Jean today. Paul Baptista was the appointed referee with assistance provided by João Amaro and Francisco David Maita. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Kevinixs. The following players took the field: Standesherren - Vanhessche, Laguna Caro, Meys, Hamming - Stranden, Prager, Anrys, Margaritas - Isidro, Verelst.

Zero had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Lineup: Habert - Neves Pires, van Kesteren, Saviola - Clemente, Uff, Schäffer, Dumonceau - Mallia, Luk, Abdala.

For their match strategy, Kevinixs had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Zero used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. 5 minutes into the match, Kevinixs's T. Stranden demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to P. Isidro who chipped it in for 1 - 0. A. Prager had a fantastic opportunity to put Kevinixs up another goal 8 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. Kevinixs managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when A. Prager cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. K. Margaritas unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Kevinixs scored another to make it 3 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for A. Prager after 28 minutes. 34 minutes into the match, Zero replied and reduced the lead to 3 - 1. M. Mallia scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. With 35 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Zero showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 3 - 2 when P. Luk got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. 3 - 2 was the halftime score. Zero enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

Zero had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. 66 minutes into the game Zero's C. Schäffer found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 3 - 3. The referee showed Kevinixs's P. Meys the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Unfortunately for Zero, G. Uff was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. J. Lermer replaced him. Kevinixs took the lead after 87 minutes as a result of F. Anrys's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 4 - 3. Zero had a chance to level the score as P. Luk suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave F. Anrys from Kevinixs a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 89 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! M. Mallia was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Zero's E. van Meenen had to come off the bench. C. Habert was caught napping as G. Laguna Caro lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms. Zero claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

Kevinixs's top performer was clearly A. Prager. However, P. Vanhessche made a disastrous appearance. Most important Zero player was C. Abdala. P. Neves Pires turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 3.
