Dark skies made the crowd of 26079 at Artevelde Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Romain Leroux was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Magnus Heiberg and Ferenc Pintácsi. All of West-Vlaanderen was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby. ARAG tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Sandomierski - Carlier, Rothacher, Delavec - Fräser, Fagereng, Monneret, Wijdenbosch, Digkas - Weihrich, Silva Lopes.

Oostkamp decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Lassas - Kessler, Smeros, Kapitanski - D'hulst, Giossi, Wittens, Arnaud, Lelarge - Weenen, Fédèle.

For their match strategy, ARAG had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. R. Lelarge's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert D. Fédèle was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Oostkamp. 0 - 1. In a well-rehearsed move, ARAG delivered a free kick into the box which J. Wijdenbosch, soaring majestically above the defence, rose to head home to make the score 1 - 1. The referee showed ARAG's S. Carlier the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 39 minutes in, the referee awarded ARAG a penalty. J. Wijdenbosch coolly slotted it home for a 2 - 1 lead. Z. Silva Lopes should probably have put his team up another goal after 43 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by J. Lassas kept the visitors in the game. It was 2 - 1 at the break. Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.

With 48 minutes played, ARAG's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to Z. Silva Lopes he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 3 - 1. Confident in their lead, ARAG's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. ARAG increased the lead as Z. Silva Lopes struck to make the score 4 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Possession in this half belonged to Oostkamp, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

The most dominating ARAG player was without a doubt J. Wijdenbosch. J. Sandomierski on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Oostkamp player was S. Weenen. K. Smeros turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 1.
