23521 spectators arrived at
Camp Alpi, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Iulius Manta was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Unto Hirvilahti and
Mattias Apelblom.
Lokomotiv started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Nicoară - Styles, Stravopodis, Mathijssen - Van Kerckhove, Kerherve, Morel, Snitkovsky, Pöting - Negrelli, Summanen.
v.k.ossenweg tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Lineup: Lauwereins - Seppälä, Laane, Puppolo, Draxler - Acosta, Gjendem, Oppedisano, Wickstrand - Motte, Docqier.
Lokomotiv seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
v.k.ossenweg clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
N. Negrelli caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 6 minutes. This gave Lokomotiv the 1 - 0 lead.
Cheers filled the stadium as
N. Negrelli broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Lokomotiv.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Lokomotiv lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
After 13 minutes v.k.ossenweg tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately,
J. Laane's shot sailed wide after his break down the right.
26 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Y. Van Kerckhove broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Lokomotiv.
Lokomotiv solidified their lead at the 35 minute mark, as
S. Snitkovsky dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 0.
It was 4 - 0 at the break.
Lokomotiv claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 47 minutes, Lokomotiv did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
R. Styles was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 5 - 0.
Lokomotiv's
F. Kerherve got himself booked for a foul.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Stravopodis from Lokomotiv a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 56 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Lokomotiv's
J. Summanen increased the lead to 6 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 65 minutes.
80 minutes in,
R. Seppälä made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but
V. Nicoară refused to let the ball slip by him.
It was almost a goal for Lokomotiv following
S. Snitkovsky's good header after a corner, it went just over the bar though.
Possession in this half belonged to Lokomotiv, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
Lokomotiv's top performer was clearly
M. Morel.
F. Kerherve was a disappointment, however.
Most important v.k.ossenweg player was
M. Oppedisano.
On the other hand,
S. Acosta's play was disheartening.
The match ends 6 - 0.
