(388594376)

05-08-2012 13.30
5155 punters turned up at
Zevenbunder Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Oliver Goossens was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ahmet Uluğ and
Boris Tabak.
All of
Antwerpen was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
RCZ tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination.
Starters: Samphan - Shifman, De Messemaeker, Strömström, Masson - Mawejje, Boone, Scripcă - Nicou, Soto, Bagge.
Rats had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Lineup: Dom - Paalsteg, Royberghs, Declerck, Keunen - Soinne, Verbrugghe, Beuckelaers, Gyselinck - Gillain, Geldof.
RCZ took the lead 6 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
P. Bagge elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as RCZ scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
P. Bagge after 7 minutes.
After this, you could see that the players of RCZ were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of RCZ to 3 - 0 as
P. Mawejje finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
RCZ managed to extend their lead to 4 - 0 when
P. Bagge cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
This third goal completed a hattrick for
P. Bagge.
J. Gyselinck of Rats received a yellow card after 31 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
A. Strömström should probably have put his team up another goal after 33 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
K. Dom kept the visitors in the game.
4 - 0 was the score after the first half.
RCZ enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 84 percent of possession.
H. De Messemaeker increased the lead for RCZ to 5 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
Cheers filled the stadium as
P. Mawejje broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 6 - 0 to RCZ.
After 83 minutes,
C. Soto put RCZ ahead 7 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
RCZ's
J. Nicou increased the lead to 8 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 84 minutes.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in RCZ's
C. Soto increasing the lead to 9 - 0.
RCZ claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 89 percent.
RCZ's top performer was clearly
J. Nicou.
However,
M. Samphan made a disastrous appearance.
Rats's best player was
J. Gyselinck.
K. Dom on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 9 - 0.
