previous 2/10 next 4/10  Scharnieren 2 - 3 Lensois (388620403)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 15450 at Alianz Arena today. Ilkka Kauppi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Elias Querin and Valter Sampaio. Scharnieren had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Starters: Allain - Trust, Colsen, Lehto, Lindenbaum - Gładka, Sroka, Simić, Schrankl - Willemen, Studnikov.

Lensois started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Kerschensteiner - Rockenbauer, Sande Guzmán, Serbruyns, Güner - Abu-Sulayman, Brauneis, Wamback, Aberjel - Fantozzi, Laggenbeck.

The wings were the focus of most of Scharnieren's attacks today. The visitors could have taken the lead from a free kick after 12 minutes, if it wasn't for the jaw-dropping save by G. Allain. With 20 minutes played, P. Brauneis of Lensois fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Scharnieren took the lead 24 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as G. Willemen elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Scharnieren had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as Lensois's K. Abu-Sulayman put the ball in the onion bag after 34 minutes to make it 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Lensois had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

47 minutes into the match and the home team took a 2 - 1 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Scharnieren was S. Trust. Perseverence paid off for Lensois, as their J. Rockenbauer equalised making it 2 - 2 with a fabulous free kick. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Lensois's K. Abu-Sulayman after 63 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 2 - 3 lead. Scharnieren's S. Trust got himself booked for a foul. W. Gładka made a superb strike after 76 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.

O. Studnikov performed admirably for Scharnieren. However, W. Gładka made a disastrous appearance. Most important Lensois player was R. Laggenbeck. L. Serbruyns was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 3.
