Patellaka had to make a substitution after 60 minutes. B. Snoeckx limped off the field and was replaced by M. Alvanos. United's J. Vandenbroeck got himself booked for a foul. In a fantastic display of determination, Patellaka's E. Masy forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down. The visitors were very close to gaining the lead with a marvellous free kick after 81 minutes, but J. Thuwis made a beautiful one-handed save. Possession in this half belonged to Patellaka, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

United's best player was G. Debouvere. However, J. Thuwis made a disastrous appearance. E. Masy performed admirably for Patellaka. M. Lambrette was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
