The 12500 fans in attendance at Fc .zandstraat were roasting in the hot sun. Rolf Aanonsen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Matteo Zamagni and Jaroslav Štefka. People from all over Vlaams Brabant had joined up for the derby. Monty had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Putte decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. They fielded: Valckenborgh - Phlypo, Rosseel, Haelters, Sas - Obtebeke, Feys, Kyungu, Bruno - van Dessel, Saura.

Monty took a creative approach on the field. Monty made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left V. Bančeris completely alone with keeper A. Valckenborgh, who made a spectacular block. Monty's Z. Krzywosz refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 36 minutes. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 37 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from Z. Gúlúbov, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. Monty's J. Donato was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 43 minutes. Cheers filled the stadium as Z. Gúlúbov broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Monty. 44 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as V. Bančeris broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Monty. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Monty's A. Hilbert increasing the lead to 4 - 0. By now, the players in Monty felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0. Monty enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 79 percent of possession.

As usual, L. Hornig tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all. After 69 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and V. Bančeris gave the Monty supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 0. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Z. Krzywosz squirmed through their central defence after 72 minutes, increasing the lead to 6 - 0. Monty solidified their lead at the 77 minute mark, as A. Hilbert dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 7 - 0. Monty put themselves up 8 - 0 when Z. Gúlúbov broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. By then Z. Gúlúbov had scored three goals - a hat trick! Possession in this half belonged to Monty, who controlled the ball 83 percent of the time.

B. Vrška performed admirably for Monty. P. Mikkonen turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Putte player was A. Phlypo. However, A. Valckenborgh made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 8 - 0.
