previous 1/5 next 3/5  Barcamania 0 - 7 Olympic (388878387)

9394 fans braved the pouring rain at Barcamania stadium. Darwin Shell was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Hugo Safón and Arnaud Damour. Barcamania started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. They fielded: Khelashvili - Rəcəbli, Jikidze, Gotsadze, Papazyan - Katsitadze, Tsvijba, Baliashvili, Muradashvili - Antelidze, Lomaia.

Olympic tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Lineup: Kankia - Khalvashi, Carlsen, Cieślikowski, Bandzeladze - Hinder, Tsamtsishvili, Wettergren, Bəşirov - Potskverishvili, Wibaut.

Olympic took the lead 3 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. A. Hinder was the scorer. After 14 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for H. Wibaut who increased Olympic's lead to 0 - 2. It was a bad day for the usually speedy D. Katsitadze. The mud seemed to slow him down. After 21 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Ə. Bəşirov a chance to increase the lead for Olympic, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3. By now, the players in Olympic felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Thighs bulging, G. Muradashvili charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain. A. Wettergren received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 37 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Olympic fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Olympic's A. Cieślikowski was shown a yellow card after 40 minutes for slicing down an opponent. A loud groan was heard from the fans of Barcamania, as G. Muradashvili left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match. Z. Jalaghonia took his place on the field. 43 minutes in, Olympic appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only solid. K. Carlsen received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 44 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. Some fine movement on the left led to a Olympic goal after 44 minutes, making it 0 - 5. J. Khalvashi was noted down as the scorer. 0 - 5 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Olympic, with 60 percent of the ball.

The Olympic players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. Olympic came close to extending their lead as A. Hinder delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 49 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Olympic's K. Carlsen left the field after 51 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was H. Rouco. 64 minutes into the game, Olympic seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a solid level of organisation. The coach of Olympic was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 65 minutes, E. Klangskog came on for M. Tsamtsishvili. After 65 minutes, Olympic were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. A. Hinder did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. 70 minutes into the game, Olympic seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. 72 minutes in, Olympic's A. Hinder received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Ə. Bəşirov left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 73 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. M. Sigmund was the replacement. D. Katsitadze was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Barcamania's R. Meskhidze had to come off the bench. With 74 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed A. Cieślikowski of Olympic to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 6. The visitors' M. Potskverishvili took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 79 minutes into the match. 0 - 7 for Olympic. Possession in this half belonged to Olympic, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.

Most important Barcamania player was B. Papazyan. However, S. Khelashvili made a disastrous appearance. Olympic's best player was M. Potskverishvili. On the other hand, J. Khalvashi's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 7.
