Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 61594 to Lipperscheid Arena. Ragnar Vaher was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ovidiu Brãtianu and Shu Hon. RBL were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. Alsontia demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. RBL took the lead 11 minutes in, as N. Maceira broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. RBL increased the lead as P. Lavier struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. RBL's H. Brasiliense was shown a yellow card after 27 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 31 minutes Alsontia's I. Escobar limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. RBL were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 33 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by P. Lavier. 3 - 0 for the home side. 37 minutes in, Alsontia appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only passable. RBL's C. La Malfa increased the lead to 4 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 40 minutes. The players of RBL now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Halftime score was 4 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by RBL, with 89 percent of the ball.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Alsontia was able to get his message across, and raised Alsontia's organisation to solid. A great save by keeper É. Ardisson after 52 minutes kept the visitors in the game after P. Lavier struck from the left with a real cannonball. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave J. Querol from RBL a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 56 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Content with how the game was proceeding, the RBL coach let E. Lamers replace F. Kuhi after 59 minutes. 59 minutes into the match, the speedy N. Maceira easily outpaced G. Ley, chipped the keeper and made the score 5 - 0. Given a free kick close to the byline, RBL tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let E. Lamers slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 6 - 0, 60 minutes into the game. T. Willenegger wanted to play on, but the RBL coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 75 minutes into the game by L. Reay. 75 minutes into the game, Alsontia seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organisation. 79 minutes into the game, Alsontia seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. After 84 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and C. La Malfa gave the RBL supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 7 - 0. The bicycle kick from T. Kössi would have been the Goal of the Year for RBL, had it not hit the post. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. C. La Malfa squirmed through their central defence after 88 minutes, increasing the lead to 8 - 0. By then C. La Malfa had scored three goals - a hat trick! RBL put themselves up 9 - 0 when N. Maceira broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. At that, N. Maceira was noted down for a hat trick! RBL had most of the ball, with 93 percent of possession.

RBL's top performer was clearly P. Lavier. L. Reay was a disappointment, however. I. Escobar performed admirably for Alsontia. However, É. Ardisson made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 9 - 0.
