The 27513 spectators at Alisontia - Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Antero Tuomisto was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Roben Coppens and André Hubert. Alsontia used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. Diddeleng mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Diddeleng had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 3 minutes in when G. Iachelini came up alone against P. Panzeta who managed a block. A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 18 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Alsontia's É. Ardisson to one side and produced a red card for the player. S. Turk's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 21 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to G. Iachelini who knocked it in for Diddeleng. 0 - 1! The pressing tactics used by Alsontia were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. 35 minutes into the match, G. Bègue came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Diddeleng, with 84 percent of the ball.

The referee showed Alsontia's F. Guyot the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. As usual, B. Goujon tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all. Alsontia's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. G. Aussems received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 78 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Diddeleng fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The game was close to savage at times, and Alsontia's F. Guyot received a second yellow card after 83 minutes; his ticket out of the game. Some fine movement on the left led to a Diddeleng goal after 84 minutes, making it 0 - 3. S. Turk was noted down as the scorer. The players of Diddeleng now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. S. Turk found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. Diddeleng had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. After 88 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for V. Kleinrath who increased Diddeleng's lead to 0 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Diddeleng, who controlled the ball 90 percent of the time.

Y. Gengler performed admirably for Alsontia. However, G. Ley made a disastrous appearance. Most important Diddeleng player was G. Iachelini. On the other hand, G. Bègue's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 4.
