(388891867)

22-07-2012 15.00
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 51549 to
Sultan Gazi Arena.
Zefos Christopoulakis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mario Boselli and
Maurice Chevènement.
The derby had been the talk of
İstanbul all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium.
SGS decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
Starters: Delplanque - Schromm, Hausken - Zaramella, Kitane, Doms, Ülez, Kosnar - Thierry, Rio, Deutor.
Bağcılar had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
They fielded: Winnubst - Paula, Timmann, Dabija - Brătianu, Peçen, Odabaşı, Załuga - Tamanis, Koláček, Briceag.
Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile
Ç. Ülez.
P. Zaramella gave SGS the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0
SGS put in a good effort on the right, but
D. Rio saw his volley fly wide of the mark 27 minutes into the game.
J. Dabija of Bağcılar received a yellow card after 28 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
After 29 minutes SGS's
Ç. Ülez limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
SGS's
Ç. Ülez increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 32 minutes.
SGS's
P. Zaramella was shown a yellow card after 33 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
SGS's
D. Kosnar left the field after 36 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
P. Hallum.
P. Hallum increased the lead for SGS to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
3 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to SGS, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.
Bağcılar needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 55 minutes
R. Koláček made way for
C. Blockx.
Bağcılar had to make a substitution after 59 minutes.
B. Brătianu limped off the field and was replaced by
T. Oner.
Ş. Peçen wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat.
D. Rio should probably have put his team up another goal after 78 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
J. Winnubst kept the visitors in the game.
With 85 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Bağcılar showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 3 - 1 when
J. Dabija got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal.
86 minutes in, Bağcılar appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
inadequate.
The coach of SGS was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 89 minutes,
H. Anthonsen came on for
D. Rio.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the SGS coach let
C. Gaillard replace
D. Deutor after 89 minutes.
Possession was split evenly between the teams.
Most important SGS player was
Ç. Ülez.
P. Hallum turned in a dismal performance, however.
K. Tamanis performed admirably for Bağcılar.
However,
T. Oner made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 1.
