Clear skies welcomed the 29958 spectators who had made their way to
Sattarkhan.
Adalberto Teruel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Janick Baatje and
Tomás Macedo Lima.
People from all over
Tehran had joined up for the derby.
Pooya tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination.
They fielded: Blanquet - Mehinović, Deska, Lugaresi, Kumar, Jetel - Lo Capezzo, Ekenquist, Mercier, Andrade - Gusin.
A 3-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Black.
Lineup: Dosrius - Trombetta, Stekelenburg, Ziegenhals - van Hest, Holgersen, Lebas, Nachmias, Farkas - Raaphorst.
Pooya were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
20 minutes in, Black appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
passable.
After 32 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Pooya found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
passable.
34 minutes into the game, Pooya seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
37 minutes into the game, Black seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
inadequate.
The referee showed Black's
S. Ziegenhals the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Pooya were forced into a substitution as
R. Kumar couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
M. Harati to come in off the bench.
41 minutes into the game, Black had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
poor.
Pooya fans held their breath as
R. Mehinović scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
As the game started to slip away for Black, the manager decided to change the tactical approach.
Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Black manager used a brief break in play after 42 minutes to give the players new directives.
J. Andrade unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0.
Possession in this half belonged to Pooya, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Pooya was able to get his message across, and raised Pooya's organisation to
passable.
The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Black had
passable organisation.
Pooya put in a good effort on the right, but
T. Deska saw his volley fly wide of the mark 49 minutes into the game.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
R. Mercier from Pooya a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 52 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
53 minutes in, Black appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
weak.
V. Gusin left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 65 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
D. Belmonte was the replacement.
After 65 minutes,
M. Trombetta sent the corner kick right to
D. Lebas who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 1!
The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 75 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
J. Andrade, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
Pooya had to manage with a reduced squad after 78 minutes, as
M. Harati got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action.
Black's
O. Holgersen was shown a yellow card after 86 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
After 88 minutes, Pooya were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
R. Mehinović did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
Pooya enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.
Pooya's top performer was clearly
D. Belmonte.
J. Blanquet turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Black player was
D. Lebas.
However,
K. van Hest made a disastrous appearance.
