Clear skies welcomed the 40657 spectators who had made their way to
Azodi Sport Complex.
Sandro van Lammeren was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Cédric Bélanger and
Claus Bo Brinkmann.
FC Damash started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Mazzoleni - Petrov, Faure - Petit, Rydygier, Bauerschmitt, Chini, Thomas - Majoch, Bönninghausen, Yliruusi.
Mehrasa decided to use a 5-4-1 set up.
The following players took the field: Nikolaev - Musella, Farrokhi, Eskafi, Kautola, Borgdorff - Winninger, Valdivia, Abranches, Lopez Mena - Briedis.
N. Farrokhi behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 2 minutes as he gave the ball away to
O. Yliruusi. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
FC Damash took the lead 14 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
O. Yliruusi elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
28 minutes into the match
S. Petrov put FC Damash ahead 2 - 0 with a truly marvelous free kick.
The players of FC Damash now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
A well-executed free kick by
S. Petrov after 32 minutes made it 3 - 0 for FC Damash.
With 34 minutes gone,
F. Abranches suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Mehrasa caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring.
The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0.
FC Damash enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
The home side's
M. Bönninghausen came close to extending the lead 66 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
P. Nikolaev managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
FC Damash's
M. Bauerschmitt saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 68 minutes.
Possession in this half belonged to FC Damash, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.
FC Damash's top performer was clearly
E. Chini.
Y. Thomas turned in a dismal performance, however.
Mehrasa's best player was
G. Musella.
On the other hand,
P. Nikolaev's play was disheartening.
The match ends 3 - 0.
