Toxteth 4 - 1 FBU
(389413910)

12-08-2012 16.00
Clouds darkened the skies at
Terror Dome as 55424 spectators turned up for the match.
Benet Pineda was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
David Deient and
Stefan Bergby.
Toxteth had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Halay - Ryborg, Gamlieli, Cohen - Séné, Meirov, Nikačević, Borgholm, Kanstrup - Tornøe, Folden.
FBU tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
The following players took the field: Hansen - Bach Lauritsen, Kaleta, Stjernholm, Manniche - Sandvold, Krag, Abrahamsen, Brandbye, Juwayri - Basse.
It was obvious that FBU were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. Brandbye from FBU a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 8 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Toxteth's
J. Séné skillfully knocked a pass over the top after 11 minutes, and that was received by
K. Tornøe who just managed to slot it past the opposing goalkeeper for 1 - 0.
The pressing tactics used by FBU were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times.
34 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
D. Folden broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Toxteth.
Toxteth solidified their lead at the 41 minute mark, as
K. Kanstrup dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
3 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Toxteth claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Toxteth scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
K. Tornøe after 64 minutes.
Confident in their lead, Toxteth's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
At this time in the match, FBU were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game.
Toxteth's
K. Tornøe had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 72 minutes having been played.
V. Knudsen was the replacement.
The Toxteth players could smell victory in the air.
P. Meirov wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
B. Fallentin Dahl after 75 minutes.
G. Basse of FBU was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish
I. Gamlieli, which resulted in a goal making the score 4 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Toxteth, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.
Most important Toxteth player was
D. Folden.
On the other hand,
I. Gamlieli's play was disheartening.
FBU's top performer was clearly
H. Abrahamsen.
J. Manniche turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
