Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 54871 to LM Stadium. Urban Olsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jørgen Tang and Jesper Rommedahl. The visiting J. Gőz was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 4 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. Due to some great work on the right wing LMU's T. Andreassen was able to even the score after 18 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. After 23 minutes of play, A. Săndulescu gave the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right. At the 27 minute mark, it looked like the opportunity for Hillbillies to score had been missed until T. Lõiv suddenly worked his way clear and fired off a spectacular shot. The keeper had no chance! 2 - 2. LMU's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing M. Knight to score easily from the right flank for 3 - 2. After 40 minutes LMU's F. van der Duin contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of LMU to 4 - 2 as D. Strohhofer finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. 42 minutes in, Hillbillies's V. Kapitančík received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by LMU, with 66 percent of the ball.

61 minutes into the game, LMU were awarded a penalty that D. Strohhofer turned into 5 - 2 without a problem. The LMU players could smell victory in the air. M. Knight wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for V. Rodrigues after 61 minutes. By now, the players in LMU felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. With 64 minutes played, V. Rodrigues could have brought this one home for LMU as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. The score became 6 - 2 at 69 minutes into the game, when LMU were given a penalty which D. Strohhofer blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance! By then D. Strohhofer had scored three goals - a hat trick! Possession in this half belonged to LMU, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.

Most important LMU player was L. Kabelitz. On the other hand, V. Rodrigues's play was disheartening. Hillbillies's top performer was clearly J. Lukassen. However, V. Kapitančík made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 6 - 2.
