24-06-2012 16.00
51298 punters turned up at
König Park, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Norbert Gontier was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Francesco Menabue and
Jochen Waldinger.
G1.GK tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Lineup: Drengsson - Mehir, Moreira, Krag - Timoskainen, Toft, Kvelashvili, Gamelin, Schou - Segal, Besca.
Davinde had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
They fielded: Schleuniger - Zanca, Jennings, Greff, Dufour - Mikkelsen, Bruinzeel, Spinella, Damsbo, Vuorela - Unčovský.
Davinde clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 10 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
A. Kvelashvili, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
The G1.GK free kick 17 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
S. Toft, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 0!
Davinde certainly deserved a goal after some stunning play down the left, but
Y. Dufour just wasn't able to finish.
Davinde's
N. Damsbo showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 23 minutes. Unfortunately,
G. Mikkelsen was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish.
M. Schleuniger was caught napping as
J. Krag lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
G1.GK had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Davinde's
T. Vuorela was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 60 minutes.
T. Dumitru was given a chance to change things around.
After 68 minutes, G1.GK sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
C. Gamelin, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 3 - 0.
The players of G1.GK now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Davinde's
T. Dumitru was shown a yellow card after 70 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
With 72 minutes played, the Davinde coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
M. Falkenhagen came on,
M. Bruinzeel had to leave the fray.
G1.GK had to make a substitution after 72 minutes.
A. Kvelashvili limped off the field and was replaced by
D. Arango.
The bench was restless, and with 74 minutes passed Davinde's coach gave
J. Zatykó the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
R. Greff reluctantly left the field.
D. Arango could have increased the lead after 75 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
Davinde mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 83 minutes, but
T. Dumitru was unable to convert from short range.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by G1.GK, with 68 percent of the ball.
The most dominating G1.GK player was without a doubt
R. Segal.
G. Schou was a disappointment, however.
Most important Davinde player was
D. Unčovský.
G. Mikkelsen on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 0.
