previous 10/10 next 2/10  Dalgas 2 - 3 Dannebrog (389417247)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and frederiksberg stadion saw a crowd turnout of 36215. Jaakko Roukala was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Asmir Ceric and José Colmenarejo. Dalgas decided to use a 5-5-0 set up. They fielded: Mbugua - Dairhanov, Haddad, Zubrod, Briciu, Saagim - Alb, Slits, Voss, Christiansen, Tollaksen -.

Dannebrog had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Kjær - Ðapić, Vernidub, La Paz - Aakerman, Damsted Petersen, Skals Jensen, Nørgaard, Ølholm - Kallas, Normann.

Dalgas were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. Dannebrog had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 1 minutes in when R. Normann came up alone against S. Mbugua who managed a block. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 3 minutes into the match left Dannebrog's T. Aakerman completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. With 6 minutes played, Dannebrog put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was D. La Paz. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Dannebrog lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. G. Voss of Dalgas seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by R. Christiansen. The Dalgas free kick 31 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of M. Saagim, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 2! 2 - 2 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Dannebrog, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Dalgas substitution. P. Vorwerk came on for A. Alb. Priding himself in being an active coach, the Dannebrog manager gave new instructions to his players after 46 minutes. The coach of Dannebrog wanted to try to change things around after 46 minutes, and gave new tactical instructions. D. Warchoł was called on to replace Dalgas's U. Tollaksen after 57 minutes following a nasty collision. After 60 minutes, the Dalgas coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving M. Slits off the field. C. Mauve took his place. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 78 minutes allowed V. Ðapić to score for Dannebrog. The scoreboard now read 2 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Dalgas, with 52 percent of the ball.

Dalgas's top performer was clearly P. Vorwerk. D. Warchoł turned in a dismal performance, however. R. Normann performed admirably for Dannebrog. V. Vernidub was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 3.
