36439 fans braved the pouring rain at
Fever Pitch.
Luca Notaro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Felice Fallo and
Roland Holzgräber.
SFS started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Lineup: Shmilovich - Cutting, Šipula, Filipova, Wygocki - Catin, Álvarez Barrio, Pizzagalli, Picchio - Carrera, Rubinke.
Nix tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
They fielded: Haastrup - Martinovich, Pungartnik - Svensson, Fig, Schøler, Mirković, Prang - Fyhrstad, Holgersen, Holm Pedersen.
SFS were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Nix's
T. Holgersen could have put the guests one up after 24 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
N. Shmilovich was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose.
SFS's
L. Picchio left the field after 27 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
A. Finuras.
N. Shmilovich looked great 36 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors'
M. Mirković.
SFS were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 37 minutes into the match, but
L. Filipova narrowly missed the free kick attempt that was awarded as a result of a foul.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
K. Fig from Nix a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 38 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
SFS almost scored after a counterattack 40 minutes into the match, but
B. Rubinke took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 42 minute mark, SFS's
N. Shmilovich hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
It was 0 - 0 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Nix, with 63 percent of the ball.
Down the middle came
J. Fyhrstad, making a fantastic play that nearly had Nix take the lead after 56 minutes, but
N. Shmilovich preserved the tie.
With 57 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
J. Fyhrstad put the ball away for 0 - 1.
With 70 minutes played,
L. Filipova of SFS fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
The referee showed SFS's
P. Pizzagalli the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Nix nearly produced a goal as
F. Pungartnik set up
M. Holm Pedersen for a strike from a seemingly impossible angle. However he put the shot narrowly wide.
The visitors'
J. Fyhrstad took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 76 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Nix.
After 78 minutes, a counter attack by SFS was converted into a decent free kick opportunity. However, the indirect free kick routine was easily anticipated by the defenders. A textbook example of how to defend a free kick - the attackers were left with few viable options.
Nix had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.
SFS's best player was
C. Carrera.
However,
L. Filipova made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Nix player was without a doubt
K. Schøler.
N. Prang on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 2.
