Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 41286 to Byrde Boldklub Arena. Tiziano Cherchi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rolf Steen and Charlie Keown. Sarbjerg were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. With 12 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Boldklub resulted in a counterattack that set P. Da Silva free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. After 21 minutes, a penalty kick by S. Babac could have resulted in the lead for the visitors, but the keeper made the save. Sarbjerg had to make a substitution after 31 minutes. S. Babac limped off the field and was replaced by A. Ravnkilde. It was obvious that Sarbjerg had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. 34 minutes into the game, O. Ernst was a hair's breadth away from giving Sarbjerg the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by J. Groot Bruinderink saved the home team that time. Sarbjerg had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. Sarbjerg's J. Sitter managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 42 minutes. 0 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Sarbjerg, with 51 percent of the ball.

After 65 minutes, Boldklub used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. The home crowd was not impressed when A. Ravnkilde came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 66 minutes. Sarbjerg were now up 0 - 2. A marvellous Boldklub effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 70 minutes by D. Klanauskas, making the score 1 - 2. The Sarbjerg coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 75 minutes into the game. M. Brandbye left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 75 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. V. Eilersen was the replacement. After a short break after 75 minutes, Sarbjerg seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. V. Eilersen increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 3. Boldklub's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 82 minutes into the match as S. Bjerg ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 2 - 3. Boldklub's D. Klanauskas got himself booked for a foul. P. Da Silva performed admirably for Boldklub. T. Zotlöterer was a disappointment, however. Sarbjerg's top performer was clearly P. Tjørnild. On the other hand, V. Eilersen's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 3.
