A scorching day at
Tuborg Stadion, where 62317 spectators were in place for today's match.
Efim Galkin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Rihard Vošner and
Heintje Riedle.
Tuborg tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Hartl - Eceşan, Køngerskov, Boe, Lauridsen, Abrahamsen - Abu-Turk, Palm, Thinggaard - Phieler, Tobiasen.
Dolle decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Sireus - Doliwa, Hopf, Dover - Coda, Alibalić, Tøfting, Sauer, bin Hj Asraf - Barranco, Salvany.
For their match strategy, Tuborg had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
After a fine move down the middle
N. Abu-Turk nearly gave the home side a goal after 4 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide.
5 minutes into the game, Tuborg had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
inadequate.
The crowd groaned its disapproval when
V. Palm missed a free kick that would have given Tuborg the lead after 7 minutes.
After 8 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Dolle on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by
Å. Tøfting to make it 0 - 1.
With 10 minutes played,
A. Alibalić nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
Tuborg almost scored after a counterattack 11 minutes into the match, but
M. Phieler took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net.
E. Salvany received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 25 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Dolle fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
The players of Dolle now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Halftime score was 0 - 2.
Possession in this half belonged to Dolle, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
During the break, Tuborg's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to
solid organisation.
Dolle's
G. Coda made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 50 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
The referee showed Tuborg's
T. Lauridsen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
It wasn't a good day at all for
T. Lauridsen. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day.
C. Hopf wanted to play on, but the Dolle coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 60 minutes into the game by
T. Pezinho.
Tuborg's counterattacks created a good chance for
C. Eceşan on the right after 61 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
After 63 minutes Dolle's
T. Pezinho limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
With 65 minutes played, the Tuborg coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
H. Cansun came on,
K. Thinggaard had to leave the fray.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Dolle coach let
A. Augustinussen replace
A. Alibalić after 65 minutes.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 72 minutes, Tuborg tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
The bench was restless, and with 72 minutes passed Tuborg's coach gave
T. Brosbøl the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
V. Palm reluctantly left the field.
74 minutes into the game, Tuborg seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
passable.
Dolle had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
Most important Tuborg player was
S. Boe.
J. Køngerskov was a disappointment, however.
Dolle's top performer was clearly
E. Salvany.
A. Augustinussen turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 2.
