It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 46596 that came out to
Fc Vestsjæland Arena.
Anghel Chihaia was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ottó Udvarácz and
Patrik Ekenmo.
Vestsjæland started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Tudor - Grabovetskiy, Bandeirinha, Skywalker - Spaargaren, Bergagna, Krejčí, Pelletier, Gerads - Munk, Vindeløv.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Sydhavnen.
The following players had been chosen: Lay - Träskelin, Philippe, Krucsó - Ghosh, 曉麟 (Xiaolin), Teuşdea, Hemmerling, Conte - Pons, Purković.
Vestsjæland clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
It was an obvious ambition of Sydhavnen to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
D. Vindeløv, but the Vestsjæland player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
The visitors didn't give in and, after 17 minutes,
洪. 曉麟 (Xiaolin) got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 1 - 1.
Vestsjæland could have put themselves ahead after 19 minutes but
M. Bergagna missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Sydhavnen's
G. Ghosh after 32 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 1 - 2 lead.
After 35 minutes of play,
A. Munk evened things up for Vestsjæland with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 2 - 2.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Vestsjæland, with 51 percent of the ball.
D. Spaargaren enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again.
Vestsjæland took the lead 65 minutes into the match after a magnificent free kick by
S. Grabovetskiy that made the score 3 - 2.
Vestsjæland solidified their lead at the 71 minute mark, as
D. Vindeløv dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 2.
The sunny day didn't make things easy for
B. Krejčí who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch.
The home crowd was silenced as
M. Purković took a successful penalty shot 82 minutes into the game, reducing the home lead to 4 - 3.
With 83 minutes played,
M. Pelletier of Vestsjæland fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
The home team will be cursing
P. Pons for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem. The match was level at 4 - 4 after 85 minutes.
The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs
V. Gerads found it hard to get back into position.
Players in Sydhavnen heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
Sydhavnen's
J. Krucsó managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 87 minutes. 4 - 5.
M. Pelletier remonstrated furiously with the referee after Vestsjæland had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch.
Sydhavnen had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.
Most important Vestsjæland player was
M. Bergagna.
V. Gerads was a disappointment, however.
Sydhavnen's top performer was clearly
P. Pons.
L. Lay on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 5.
