(389428614)

01-07-2012 16.00
45809 punters turned up at
FOREVER OB Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Claus Magg was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Milomir Dunjić and
Sergio Benítez.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for FOREVER.
The following players had been chosen: Carchidio - Sans, Browne, Masiello - Moore, Alsina, Beccari, Llargues, Drijber - Delange, Deveaux.
Point had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Bogdanović - Rabaud, Aymerich, Tonner - Wawrzyniak, Soldado, Nilsson, Bigaud, Güldan - Teglborg, Ellmeier.
For their match strategy, FOREVER had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
FOREVER took the lead 28 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
C. Alsina elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
D. Ellmeier from Point a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 36 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
A loud groan was heard from the fans of FOREVER, as
J. Moore left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
M. Southern took his place on the field.
Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as Point's
L. Tonner put the ball in the onion bag after 39 minutes to make it 1 - 1.
With 40 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
R. Rabaud put the ball away for 1 - 2.
1 - 2 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Point, with 52 percent of the ball.
After 56 minutes of play,
A. Browne evened things up for FOREVER with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 2 - 2.
58 minutes into the game,
M. Wawrzyniak was a hair's breadth away from giving Point the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by
G. Carchidio saved the home team that time.
Point's
J. Bigaud managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 64 minutes. 2 - 3.
Clever play that showed his experience gave
S. Teglborg a good chance to score, but the shot hit the crossbar.
S. Teglborg of Point took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 77 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 2 - 4.
Point came close to extending their lead as
M. Güldan delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 78 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
The crowd groaned when
D. Delange, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to reduce the deficit for FOREVER.
Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.
Most important FOREVER player was
S. Beccari.
However,
M. Southern made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Point player was without a doubt
S. Teglborg.
M. Güldan was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 4.
