Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
KayJay Park saw a crowd turnout of 34574.
Silvio Tomaš was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sergio Pascau and
Günther Lipus.
KayJay tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
Starters: Pararas - Leahu, Haun, Bruus, Torgersen - Zaydman, Obbekjer, Aksamitowski, Wichmann, Castromán - Jeppesen.
Olsen had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Axelsen - Sønderby, Laustsen, Appel Andersen - Bomholdt, Jakobsen, Serup-Nørgaard, Haubjerg Scharling, Bøndergaard - Hansson, Tesdorff.
KayJay were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
With 13 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
J. Bøndergaard put the ball away for 0 - 1.
23 minutes into the game, KayJay seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
solid.
N. Jakobsen was, after 33 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
S. Pararas made the save.
R. Lindgaard was called on to replace Olsen's
O. Bomholdt after 35 minutes following a nasty collision.
36 minutes into the game, Olsen worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
R. Lindgaard came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
S. Pararas but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Halftime score was 0 - 1.
Olsen enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of KayJay was able to get his message across, and raised KayJay's organisation to
solid.
The home crowd cheered when, after 71 minutes,
M. Tesdorff's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
72 minutes into the game,
S. Wichmann finished off a KayJay left wing counterattack, making the score 1 - 1.
73 minutes into the game, Olsen wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
S. Laustsen gave
R. Klinggaard a quick hug as he left the field.
74 minutes into the game, KayJay seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
solid level of organisation.
81 minutes into the game,
J. Bøndergaard almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
K. Torgersen of KayJay was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
With 82 minutes gone, Olsen had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However,
J. Bøndergaard did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out.
With 83 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of KayJay resulted in a counterattack that set
E. Zaydman free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Olsen, with 62 percent of the ball.
KayJay's top performer was clearly
S. Wichmann.
V. Obbekjer was a disappointment, however.
Most important Olsen player was
P. Hansson.
J. Bøndergaard turned in a dismal performance, however.
