previous 4/10 next 6/10  Vedels 3 - 2 Leverpolse (389462847)

Clouds darkened the skies at Vedel Park as 11284 spectators turned up for the match. Qasim Haj-Najjar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Cenan Dulinski and Raul Andrade. Vedels started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Starters: Rodeanu - Jessen, Højer, Schwartz - Niebe, Hausner, Rief, Cifontes, Boldt - Kossack, Brunt.

Leverpolse had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Lineup: Guldager - Broendsted, Keller, Hepşen - Svejstrup, Hyllested, Kirkeby, Olesen - Bonnesen, Bøgebjerg, Svensson.

It was obvious that Vedels were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic. The visiting T. Bonnesen was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 11 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. The visitors' J. Svensson took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 17 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Leverpolse. Vedels supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to R. Hausner who reduced the visitors' lead after 30 minutes to 1 - 2. Vedels's A. Kossack made an attempt at equalising 31 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. Vedels's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. It was 1 - 2 at the break. Vedels claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Vedels's A. Boldt was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 60 minutes. C. Dalgaard was given a chance to change things around. C. Dalgaard's speed was clear to see after 69 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released A. Kossack who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 2 - 2. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Vedels coach decided it was time for a substitution. A. Kossack reluctantly made way for M. Plaster on the pitch. At 75 minutes played, C. Dalgaard came in from the right with the intention of giving Vedels the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. There was concern in the stands when, at the 78 minute mark, Leverpolse's H. Bøgebjerg hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. The home side put themselves ahead 3 - 2 after 81 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from R. Hausner, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. Vedels had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

Vedels's top performer was clearly T. Rief. However, G. Schwartz made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Leverpolse player was without a doubt J. Svensson. On the other hand, M. Hyllested's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 2.
