previous 4/10 next 6/10  Århus 2 - 2 LHA (389478224)

The crowd of 28500 turning up at Århus Go-Go Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Harri Maijala was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Martti Juusela and Schorsch Helbing. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Århus. The following players had been chosen: Zieverich - Vanšovský, Fischkopf, Canser - Fredes, Ulff, Zuccolotto, Serra, Efrat - Larsson, Lefebvre.

LHA tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Ervin - Hedeland, Ortiz, Mikkelberg - Pati, Ketomäki, Csapos, Blaziano, Maimó - Gisselmann, Müller.

Århus saw most attack opportunities on the wings. Århus's O. Canser was shown a yellow card after 6 minutes for slicing down an opponent. V. Maimó of LHA had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. G. Berg came in to finish the match. The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but N. Mikkelberg showed great heart and had a good game. Århus's Y. Efrat got himself booked for a foul. K. Csapos, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Århus, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. 22 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Århus to take the lead after a good cross from the right found M. Lefebvre alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. With 23 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, K. Csapos needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to M. Lefebvre, but the Århus player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! It was 1 - 0 at the break. Århus had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

52 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as M. Lefebvre broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Århus. Coming in on the left, T. Gisselmann did everything right to get a goal for LHA after 63 minutes, but his finishing shot was stabbed clear by the keeper. A bit later, LHA's T. Gisselmann easily reduced the lead to 2 - 1 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. The crowd was silenced 67 minutes into the match as the visiting team's E. Müller came in from the left, levelling the score to 2 - 2. Århus enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

M. Lefebvre performed admirably for Århus. R. Fischkopf turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating LHA player was without a doubt V. Hedeland. However, G. Berg made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 2.
