40000 spectators arrived at
Obbekjer Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Frederik Antelmann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
William Lacote and
Jerardo Villegas.
Obbekjer started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Vial - Hızlı, Steiner, Hentze - Paul-Koch, Faaborg, Fabritzek, Stentoft, Sodnik - Chocho, Reinders.
Dragsters decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Gacitua - Verpoucke, Pascal, Lutsyshin, Bording - Reventlow, Schartl, Enchev, Billkvist - Sonntag-Burgos, López.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
N. Sonntag-Burgos got himself booked. The manager of Dragsters was not happy.
The Dragsters free kick 17 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
N. Sonntag-Burgos, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 0 - 1!
After 23 minutes Obbekjer's
Z. Steiner limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
The crowd chanted their encouragement as Obbekjer's
S. Sodnik came in from the right after 40 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1.
Obbekjer created a good opportunity to score 41 minutes into the match when
P. Reinders's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
Dragsters's
M. López gave the visitors a 1 - 2 lead after 42 minutes with a superb strike from the right.
1 - 2 was the halftime score.
Obbekjer enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.
P. Reinders charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for Obbekjer, but the shot went well wide of the goal.
59 minutes into the game,
O. Fabritzek had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
H. Nielsen.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 64 minutes, Obbekjer did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
P. Reinders was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 2.
After a fine move down the middle
S. Sodnik nearly gave the home side a goal after 67 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide.
Many thought
P. Reinders ought to have been awarded a penalty 68 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
S. Gacitua after a determined run through the middle.
Obbekjer broke through on the left 74 minutes into the game, with
S. Hentze firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 3 - 2 lead.
Obbekjer had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
I. Chocho performed admirably for Obbekjer.
However,
S. Hentze made a disastrous appearance.
Dragsters's best player was
N. Sonntag-Burgos.
M. López turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 3 - 2.
